White Rhino
White Rhino
Also known as: White Rhinoceros
Overview
White Rhino is an indica-dominant hybrid (approximately 80% indica, 20% sativa) created in the mid-1990s by Green House Seeds in Amsterdam. This legendary strain is a cross between White Widow and a North American indica, with genetic influences from Afghan, Brazilian, and South Indian cultivars. The strain derives its name from both its potent effects and the rhinoceros horn-like shape of its topmost cola during flowering.
The strain has earned considerable recognition in the cannabis community, winning awards including 2nd place at the High Times Cannabis Cup 1996 (Bio) and 2nd place at the Champions Cup 2005. White Rhino is particularly renowned for its thick layer of sparkling trichomes that coat dense, frosty buds, giving them a characteristic white appearance typical of the "White Family" strains. The strain produces dense, resinous flowers with short, bushy plants that prefer to grow wider rather than taller. Its heavy resin production makes it excellent for concentrates and extracts, with some describing the mature plants as appearing "sugar-frosted" due to their trichome density.

Growing Information
White Rhino is considered moderately easy to grow, making it suitable for both novice and intermediate cultivators. The strain prefers controlled indoor conditions with temperatures between 70-80°F (21-27°C) and moderate humidity levels of 40-50%. Flowering time is 8-9 weeks indoors, with yields up to 900g/m². Outdoor cultivation is also successful, with harvest ready in early October in the Northern Hemisphere and yields up to 1200g per plant. Plants grow short and bushy with short internodes, making them excellent for Sea of Green (SOG) and Screen of Green (ScrOG) methods. The strain is relatively resistant to pests and diseases but requires attention to prevent mold due to its dense foliage and heavy resin production.
