Sheelavathi x Baghlan Province, Afghanistan
Sheelavathi x Baghlan Province, Afghanistan
Also known as: Sheelavathi × Baghlan Province, Afghanistan
Overview
Sheelavathi x Baghlan Province, Afghanistan is an indica / sativa from Tonglen Song and can be cultivated indoors, outdoors and greenhouse (Where the plants will need a flowering time of ±85 days). This rare hybrid combines two distinct landrace lineages from different continents. The Sheelavathi parent is one of the most potent and savoured cultivars in India, developed from old Kerala and Idukki Gold populations as a higher-yielding, faster-finishing version of traditional South Indian sativas. The Afghan parent originates from Baghlan province, one of the well known highland hindu kush regions for cannabis farming, representing the classic indica genetics from the Hindu Kush mountains.
This cross represents an ambitious breeding project by Tonglen Song, a small scale breeding project using organic no-till farming principals that works almost exclusively with global landrace selections, unique exotics, and longer flowering strains. The strain combines the cerebral, uplifting qualities of the South Indian sativa with the resinous, sedating characteristics of the Afghan indica. Given the substantial genetic diversity between the parent populations - one being a long-flowering equatorial sativa and the other a short-flowering mountain indica - this hybrid likely exhibits considerable phenotypic variation. No data is currently available for this strain in terms of detailed characteristics, suggesting it remains an experimental or very limited release variety.

Growing Information
This strain can be cultivated indoors, outdoors and greenhouse with a flowering time of approximately 85 days. Given the parent genetics, growers should expect significant variation between phenotypes - some leaning toward the sativa Sheelavathi parent with longer flowering times and taller stature, while others may favor the indica Afghan parent with shorter, bushier growth. The strain likely requires experienced cultivation due to the challenging combination of very different genetic backgrounds. Indoor cultivation recommended for better environmental control given the diverse flowering requirements of the parent strains.
