Shaman
Shaman
Also known as: Purple Shaman
Overview
Shaman is an original Dutch Passion classic that has been in the collection for several decades and was developed during a period of experimental cannabis breeding in the early 1980s. It was specifically bred by Dutch Passion by crossing a purple phenotype of a Thai sativa landrace with a robust early Skunk indica variety. This sativa-dominant hybrid features 75% sativa genetics and 25% indica genetics, with an average flowering time of 8 weeks. The breeding program emerged from crossing an early Skunk with a colorful Purple strain, resulting in an F1 hybrid between Purple #1 and a Skunk female.
Shaman is recognized for its durable and hardy nature, with known strong resistance to bud rot, spider mites, mold, and pests, making it especially suited for outdoor cultivation in temperate climates. The strain often displays vibrant purple flowers, with about half of the plants developing rich purple coloration during flowering, inherited from its Thai sativa parent. Despite being a hybrid, Shaman behaves primarily like a pure sativa with tall, elegant plants featuring slender leaves and long buds, averaging around 3-5 feet in height.

Growing Information
Shaman has an average flowering time of 8 weeks indoors, with greenhouse cultivation ready for harvest within 7-9 weeks. Some phenotypes finish in 50 days while others may take up to 65 days to fully flower. This resilient strain thrives in both indoor and outdoor environments, delivering good yields in a wide variety of conditions. It's particularly suitable for outdoor growers and novice cultivators due to its robust genetics and resistance to pests, mold, and harsh environmental conditions. Outdoor yields can reach several ounces per plant, with an estimated 14 oz/ft² indoors. Plants typically reach 6-10 feet in outdoor environments. Outdoors, flowering lasts until end of September/beginning of October. The strain produces long blooms like a sativa but with the short fast flowering time of an indica, making it ideal for temperate climates.
