Purple Widow
Purple Widow
Also known as: Purple White Widow
Overview
Purple Widow is a balanced indica-dominant hybrid strain created by crossing the legendary White Widow with Purple Power, resulting in a 55% indica, 45% sativa genetic ratio. Originally bred in the Netherlands in 2007 by De Sjamaan Seeds, this strain has gained recognition for combining the award-winning potency of White Widow with the striking purple genetics and hardy outdoor growing characteristics of Purple Power. The strain develops gorgeous violet and indigo hues throughout its growth cycle, particularly when exposed to cooler nighttime temperatures during flowering.
The plant produces fat, resin-covered purple flowers with a heavy coating of trichomes and profusion of reddish-pink pistils that create a mulberry sheen. Purple Widow is renowned for its balanced effects that combine a strong indica body high with cerebral sativa stimulation, making it suitable for both recreational and medicinal users. The strain is particularly well-suited for outdoor cultivation where it can reach heights of over 10 feet, though it can also be grown indoors with proper management.

Growing Information
Purple Widow is considered fairly easy to grow and suitable for beginner growers. Flowering time is 8-10 weeks (56-70 days) indoors, with outdoor harvest typically in late September to end of October. Indoor plants reach heights of 100-180cm while outdoor plants can exceed 10 feet (300+ cm). Indoor yields range from 400-500g/m², with outdoor plants capable of producing up to 400g per plant under optimal conditions. The strain thrives in both indoor and outdoor environments but particularly excels outdoors where cooler nighttime temperatures enhance purple coloration. It prefers a temperate Mediterranean-like climate but can withstand colder conditions. Not recommended for indoor growing by some sources due to its large size potential.
