Purple Punch is an indica-dominant hybrid (80% indica/20% sativa) cannabis strain that has become one of the most celebrated and recognizable strains in modern cannabis culture. Originally created by Supernova Gardens and later popularized through Symbiotic Genetics, this strain emerged from the thoughtful crossing of two legendary California genetics: Larry OG and Granddaddy Purple. The strain gained commercial prominence around 2013 when Supernova Gardens shared a cut with growers in Southern California, eventually leading to its widespread distribution through Symbiotic Genetics in 2017.
The strain is instantly recognizable for its predominantly purple coloration with just a few green streaks, rather than being a green plant with purple highlights. The strain has a flowering time of 7-9 weeks, with plants reaching maximum heights of 150cm outdoors and 90-150cm indoors due to its indica genetics producing short, stocky, and bushy growth. Indoor yields reach up to 21 ounces per square meter (600-650g/m²) while outdoor yields can range from 35-70 ounces per plant (1-2kg/plant). The strain thrives in sunny, humid climates and performs best outdoors in Mediterranean-like conditions. To achieve the signature purple coloration, growers should reduce nighttime temperatures to 70°F (21°C) or lower during weeks 4-5 of flowering.
