Purple Kush is a 100% pure indica strain created as a potent cross between Hindu Kush and Purple Afghani strains. Breeders in Oakland, California stabilized it in the mid-1990s by crossing two pure indica landraces, creating one of the most renowned purple cannabis varieties in the world. This strain was named one of the Top 10 Most Powerful Strains by High Times magazine and has maintained its legendary status among cannabis connoisseurs for decades.
Physically, Purple Kush is distinguished by its striking appearance, featuring small to medium-sized, dense buds with bright neon green nugs adorned with rich purple undertones and fiery orange hairs. These buds are heavily frosted with fine white trichomes and covered in sticky, sweet resin, exhibiting an array of colors with predominantly deep purple hues. The strain's purple coloration is triggered by temperature drops during cultivation, with anthocyanin being responsible for the plant's purple pigmentation.
