The strain emerged from bagseed of a purple Afghani variety originally grown in 1977, but not cultivated until 1998. Initially circulating only as clone-only plants, BC Bud Depot later developed stable seeds and won High Times' Strain of the Year in 2007. The exact lineage remains a mystery, though most breeders agree it's a fairly balanced hybrid with slight indica dominance.
The strain is renowned for its striking visual appeal, featuring deep green buds with spots of deep purple and red hairs covered in trichomes that make it appear snow-dusted. The purple hues develop naturally during flowering when exposed to cooler temperatures. The taste profile has been described as caramel coffee with woodsy pine notes, while the aroma features sweet berry grape with rubber, spicy, and pine fuel undertones.
