Matanuska Thunder Fuck is a legendary cannabis strain originating from Alaska's Matanuska Valley, approximately 50 miles from Anchorage. The strain came out of a blend of a number of different landrace strains that were folded into the most popular strains in the area at the time. From its origins in Alaska's Matanuska Valley, Alaskan Thunder Fuck emerged as a distinctive hybrid strain through the crossbreeding of Russian ruderalis and an unidentified Northern California sativa. Also known as Matanuska Thunder Fuck, this extraordinary strain underwent a significant genetic evolution in the late 1970s when breeders introduced Afghani landrace genetics into its lineage, dramatically enhancing both its potency and aromatic complexity.
This strain was originally developed by a grower known only as 'Tiny' and was initially called the 'Trapper Creek Hash Plant.' Emphases was placed on strains that didn't grow too high (for cramped quarters) and that had a short flowering cycle to optimize for the short summer. The strain was specifically adapted to Alaska's unique growing conditions, including the midnight sun and short growing season.
Matanuska Thunder, also known as "Matanuska Thunder Fuck," "Matanuskan Thunder" and "Matanuska Thunderfuck," is a slightly sativa dominant hybrid strain (60% sativa/40% indica) created through an unknown combination of hybrid strains. The buds are characterized by small thick heart-shaped bright neon green nugs with lots of orange hairs, bright amber undertones and a matching coating of crystal trichomes. This strain represents a piece of cannabis cultivation history from America's last frontier and has gained legendary status among enthusiasts worldwide.
