Master Kush
Master Kush
Also known as: High Rise, Grandmaster Kush, Purple SoCal Master Kush
Overview
Master Kush is a legendary indica-dominant cannabis strain that originates from landrace strains in the Hindu Kush mountain region along the Afghanistan and Pakistan border. This iconic strain was created by the Dutch White Label Seed Company in Amsterdam by crossing two distinct landrace strains from different parts of the Hindu Kush region. The strain was originally named "High Rise" after the building it was bred in, before being renamed Master Kush by Dutch White Label Seed Company. Master Kush has won multiple Cannabis Cup awards, including wins in 1992 and 1993, cementing its reputation as a top-tier indica strain and helping shape modern indica profiles around the world. This breeding process resulted in a 90% indica and 10% sativa strain, known for its powerful sedative effects and deep relaxation. The plant displays compact, chunky buds that are olive or forest green in color with bright orange pistils and a thick layer of frosty trichomes. The taste of Master Kush is reminiscent of the famous hard-rubbed charas hash, offering a vintage flavor profile. The strain has gained cultural significance and is rumored to be one of Snoop Dogg's favorites.

Growing Information
Master Kush is incredibly easy to grow, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced cultivators. The strain is hardy and resilient due to its robust genetics and landrace heritage. It has a flowering time of 7-9 weeks (8-10 weeks indoors), making it relatively quick for an indica. The strain performs well in both indoor and outdoor cultivation settings. Indoors it can adapt to various environments including soil or hydro, while outdoors it thrives in hot and sunny climates. Master Kush grows fairly short, typically not exceeding 30 inches, making it ideal for indoor setups with limited space. The plant shows good resistance to common cannabis pests and mold, with landrace-influenced genetics making it resistant to environmental stressors. Growers can expect yields of approximately 400g/m² indoors under optimal conditions, or up to 510g per plant outdoors. Outdoor harvests are typically ready in early October.
