Filipino Kibungan Strain Overview
Filipino Kibungan is a highland tropical sativa landrace originating from a remote and mountainous area of northern Philippines, specifically the Kibungan region near Benguet. Due to extremely harsh cannabis laws in the Philippines where cultivation is punishable by life imprisonment, sourcing seeds from this region is exceptionally difficult, and many Filipino landraces have already disappeared due to eradication campaigns and foreign genetics contamination. A local Filipino grower offered these heirloom seeds to Khalifa Genetics for reproduction and preservation, allowing the team to preserve this invaluable cultivar before it could go extinct. This landrace is known for its high potency and remarkable resistance to difficult growing conditions. The strain comes from a remote and sparsely populated mountain area where local farmers typically grow small guerrilla patches in secluded locations up in the mountains. Having evolved in abundant rainfall conditions throughout the year, this cultivar has developed exceptional ability to withstand extreme humidity and is also quite cold resistant for a tropical sativa.

Filipino Kibungan Strain Growing Information
Flowering time is 14-17 weeks indoors with outdoor harvest from end of November to mid-December. This is a 100% sativa landrace strain with average yield but outstanding mold resistance (very high resistance to powder mildew and botrytis). Unlike most tropical sativas that thrive in poor soil, Filipino Kibungan can tolerate both poor and fertile soils, making it more forgiving and beginner-friendly than most tropical varieties. Plants grow very tall very quickly during the flowering stretch, requiring training during the first 7 weeks of flowering and blue spectrum lighting until stretch ends. This cultivar grows insanely fast and growers have documented plant heights ranging from 150 to 250 centimeters when cultivated indoors. Optimal indoor temperatures are 70°F-82°F (21°C-28°C) with humidity around 50% during flowering for optimal resin production.
