Overview
Critical Plus is a Spanish hybrid developed by Dinafem Seeds through the breeding of Big Bud and Skunk No. 1 strains, producing a well-balanced and award-winning hybrid. The strain first hit the spotlight in 2005 when it won the first Highlife Cup in Barcelona and has since gained popularity in the US, specifically in the Pacific Northwest and Desert Southwest. Critical Plus is an evenly balanced hybrid of the famed Skunk and Big Bud with a 50:50 sativa/indica ratio.
The strain is characterized by medium yields after an average 55 day flowering period, producing buds that are bright green with orange, reddish hairs and a thin layer of glistening amber-hued trichomes. Critical Plus is a proud descendant of the infamous Big Bud and Skunk strains which have greatly influenced its overall profile. Thanks to its Big Bud genetics, Critical Plus is capable of producing large yields and some of the largest buds of any cannabis plant. Bred by Dinafem Seeds, Critical Plus features flavors like woody, pungent, and skunk with lemon zest coming through first, accented by some sour pungency from the Skunk parent, and on exhale, users describe a chemical tang like the taste of lemon-scented cleaner.

Known to be moderately difficult to grow, it will require an experienced hand. Plants grow tall, meaning they'll require some training to maintain a manageable size, particularly when grown indoors. The indoor cultivation of Critical Plus will have a flowering time of 45 to 50 days and can produce an impressive yield of about 22 ounces per square meter. If cultivated in the right conditions, the buds of Critical Plus may be harvested in early October with an expected yield of 45 ounces per plant. Flowering happens after six to seven weeks indoors and outdoor plants are ready for outdoor harvest in early October. Although somewhat susceptible to mold, this strain has a very high yield that may balance out any loss of flowers. The strong aroma of the strain must be taken into consideration when choosing a cultivation method. If grown indoors, it is best to equip a grow tent or grow room with carbon filters that will rid the entire space of all the unnecessary build-up of the strain's strong aroma. As for its outdoor cultivation, it would be ideal to grow the plant in areas where there are no nosy neighbors who can potentially be disrupted by the strain's aroma.
