The strain has several backcrosses and F2 generations, with Critical Cake #7 x Critical Kush being the "Official Critical Cake" phenotype featuring wider internode spacing, spaghetti-shaped pistils, faster flowering, and a distinctive berry vanilla aroma.
Critical Cake is particularly distinguished by its sweet vanilla-cake notes with a soft berry finish. This variety is very strong and can cause users to "never leave the couch again," producing powerful sedative effects. The strain grows relatively flat at the start of flowering but develops hard rock-like nugs by the end of the flowering period. Towards the end of flowering, the plants turn a beautiful purple color that becomes yellowish when properly flushed. During flowering, it gives off a slightly floral and gassy cookie note, while the taste delivers a very solid berry cake aroma on the tongue.
