Crippy OG
Crippy OG
Also known as: Crippy, Da Crip, Crippy Weed, Florida OG, Ocean Grown
Overview
Crippy OG is a legendary indica-dominant hybrid that traces its origins to 1986 on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, where it was originally bred and grown. Selected from an extensive phenotype hunt involving 500 seeds, the strain was created by crossing Hawaiian Webbed Leaf Indica (also known as Duckfoot) with Pakistani and Highland Thai genetics. The strain gained legendary status when it made its way from Hawaii to Florida via surfers in the late 1980s, where it became colloquially known as "Crippy Weed" and established itself as a cornerstone of high-quality cannabis culture. Crippy OG is particularly notable for its historical significance as it allegedly served as the parent genetics for the famous OG Kush strain, according to breeder Matt "Bubba" Barger. The strain has maintained its reputation for over three decades due to its exceptional potency, distinctive gassy pine aroma, and deeply sedating effects. Its appearance features dense, light green buds with touches of purple and orange hairs throughout, covered in a thick layer of trichomes that give it a frosty, crystalline appearance. The strain's name derives from its intensely "crippling" effects that can leave users heavily medicated.

Growing Information
Crippy OG is considered best suited for experienced growers due to its challenging cultivation requirements. The strain prefers indoor or greenhouse environments with careful climate control. It has a lengthy flowering time of 10-12 weeks (up to 13 weeks for optimal results), producing moderate yields. The plant structure is characterized by moderate vegetative growth, high bract to leaf ratio, exotic appearance with viny thin branches that require substantial support due to smaller but dense flowers. The strain is known for producing the highest testing OG terpenes and has a greasy, resinous texture. Plants tend to stretch 2-3 times during flower with moderately long internodes, and respond well to topping rather than single stem training.
