Counterfeit Kush is a unique indica-dominant hybrid strain bred by Cannavore Selections, with an interesting backstory that reflects the complexities of cannabis genetics. The strain originated from seeds received over a decade ago from an old timer on the ICMag forums that were labeled as Katsu Bubba Kush F2's. According to the breeder's account, the story involves someone finding a male or obtaining male pollen from Orgnkid's Bubba Kush S1's, which was then sent to Katsu to make seeds with his Bubba cut. However, upon growing these seeds, it became apparent that they were unlike any of the established Bubba clones, which led to the decision to rename them Counterfeit Kush rather than falsely claim they were a 'pure' Bubba line. After further research, these seeds are believed to be the breeding stock of what became known as Peyote Purple. The strain exhibits remarkable genetic diversity in its aromatic profile, with phenotypes displaying varied scents including floral rose, strawberry mango, red wine, blackberry, cocoa, fuel, and fruity musk. It presents as an indica hybrid with a 9-week flowering time and is primarily suitable for indoor cultivation.
