Also known as: Chem 91, Chemdog 91, Chem #91, 91 Chemdawg, Chemdawg 1991, Chem Dog 91, Chem Dawg 91
Overview
Chemdawg 91, also known as "Chem #91," "Chemdog 91," and "Chem Dawg 91," is a hybrid marijuana strain whose origins are shrouded in mystery. Much like many other members of the Chemdog line, rumor has it that the lineage was first cultivated by the illustrious East Coast breeder who also goes by the name of Chemdog, and the numerical addition of "91" is believed to reference the year the strain first came into existence. According to legend, in 1991 the breeder "Chemdawg" had attended a Grateful Dead show where he met "Joebrand" and "Pbud," who sold him an ounce for $500. After arranging for two more ounces to be shipped to the east coast, one ounce was seedless and the other contained 13 seeds. The first Chem Dog strain was grown in Montana and sold in Colorado for years before being purchased by Chemdawg. When Chemdawg sowed his first 4 seeds in 1991, one turned out male, but the other three became the females known as "Chem 91" or "ChemDog '91", "Chem A", and "Chem B" phenotypes.
Chemdawg 91 is believed to be descended from the legendary Chemdawg strain which is thought to be crossed from Thai and Nepalese landraces by U.S. East Coast breeders. The phenotypes of Chemdawg 91 can waver between indica-dominant and sativa-dominant, but its THC content is strong and has been measured at levels as high as 24%. Some growers believe Chem 91 to be a cross between Chemdog and Skunk, which may explain its particularly pungent aroma. Chemdawg 91 buds are average-sized and very sticky, with trichomes coating the brownish-green flowers, making them difficult to break without a grinder. Chemdawg 91 has been used to create many popular hybrid strains, including Sour Diesel, OG Kush, and Headband. These strains are known for their potent effects and unique flavor profiles, and they owe much of their genetic makeup to Chemdawg 91.

Growing Information
Chemdawg 91 is fairly easy to grow and will produce tall plants if done correctly. It can be grown both indoors and outdoors in sunny and dry outdoor climate, though growers should be careful of growing outdoors as the smell is extremely pungent. The strain is resistant to common molds and mildew but grows slowly. When grown indoors, harvesting is done at ten weeks with a high yield of 15 ounces per square meter. When grown outdoors, harvesting must happen by November and will yield 19 ounces per plant. With a flowering time of 9-10 weeks indoors and an outdoor harvest as late as early November, Chemdawg 91 is not a quick grow but plants have an average to high yield. It produces tall plants thanks to its sativa heritage, with an average flowering time between 63 and 70 days indoors and late October outdoors.
