Chem D is one of the most famous Chemdog offspring, named Leafly Budtender's Choice 2024 Winner for its strong potency, gassy flavor, and knockout effects. This legendary phenotype originates from the iconic Chemdog lineage, which traces back to a Grateful Dead concert in 1991, where a man named Chemdog bought a bag of high-quality bud known as Dog Bud from some Colorado growers who were following the Dead tour. When the weed arrived on the East Coast, it came with 13 seeds nestled inside the buds, and from these seeds, the original ChemDawg '91 was born, a phenotype that would become the base of the Chem lineage. Chem D emerged as one of several distinct phenotypes from this legendary genetic line.
