Canada - Ruderalis
Canada - Ruderalis
Also known as: Canadian Ruderalis
Overview
Canada - Ruderalis is a pure ruderalis strain from Original Strains that can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors. Cannabis ruderalis is a variety native to Central and Eastern Europe and Russia, containing relatively low quantities of psychoactive compound THC and not requiring photoperiod to blossom. Wild ruderalis populations occur sporadically throughout the United States and Canada, suggesting this strain represents Canadian landrace genetics that have adapted to North American growing conditions. This subspecies is commonly referred to as feral cannabis, as it is most commonly the result of hemp plants that eventually adapted to their environment.
This species is smaller than other cannabis varieties, rarely growing over 2 feet in height. The plants have thin, slightly fibrous stems with little branching and typically open foliage with large leaves. Cannabis ruderalis reaches maturity much quicker than other species, typically 5-7 weeks after being planted from seed. Unlike other cannabis species, ruderalis enters the flowering stage based on the plant's maturity rather than its light cycle, making it valuable for breeding autoflowering strains. This strain has been used to create 26 direct descendants in breeding programs, demonstrating its importance in cannabis genetics despite its limited recreational appeal.

Growing Information
Canada - Ruderalis can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors with beginner-friendly difficulty level. Flowering time is extremely fast at 5-7 weeks from seed to harvest, with plants beginning to flower automatically after just 3-4 weeks of germination regardless of light exposure. Plant height rarely exceeds 2 feet (0.61 meters), making it suitable for small spaces. Expected yield is smaller than indicas and sativas due to the small size and awkward growing pattern. As an autoflowering species, it can flower regardless of light exposure, making it highly adaptable to indoor and outdoor cultivation and suitable for environments with inconsistent light availability. The plant exhibits genetic adaptations that make it resistant to pests, diseases, and temperature fluctuations, with compact size and resilience making it appealing for growers with limited space.
