Bubblegum
Bubblegum
Also known as: Bubble Gum, Bubba Gum, Indiana Bubblegum
Overview
Bubblegum is a legendary indica-dominant hybrid cannabis strain (typically 60% indica, 40% sativa) that originated in the 1970s in Indiana, USA. The strain was developed by crossing Indiana Bubblegum with an unidentified indica strain in Indiana during the 1970s, before being taken to New England and eventually the Netherlands where it was refined and stabilized by Dutch breeders, particularly those at T.H. Seeds in Amsterdam. Since its 1994 release, Bubblegum has won over 13 awards in cannabis competitions, including multiple High Times Cannabis Cup victories in 1994, 1995, and 1999.
The strain is renowned for its distinctive sweet aroma that genuinely resembles pink bubblegum, making it one of the most recognizable strains in cannabis culture. Bubblegum plants produce light green colored buds with bright orange hairs and are covered in a generous layer of trichomes that appear frosty. The plant grows as a shorter strain, usually between 120-160 centimeters, with minimal side branching but can stretch during flowering. This classic strain offers balanced euphoric effects without overwhelming sedation, making it suitable for both day and evening use, and has remained a favorite among cannabis enthusiasts for its nostalgic experience and therapeutic potential.

Growing Information
Bubblegum has a flowering time of 8-9 weeks with harvest typically occurring in October for outdoor grows. Indoor yields reach 350-450 g/m² (1.14-1.47 oz/ft²) while outdoor plants can produce 450-650g (15.87-22.92 oz) per plant. Plants remain compact at 3-4 feet indoors and up to 4-5 feet outdoors, making them suitable for small growing spaces. The strain is considered easy to grow for experienced cultivators but requires care during early seedling stages as growth can be initially slower than F1 hybrids. Grows best in dry environments with temperatures around 70-80°F and humidity of 40-50%, can be sensitive to mold so proper ventilation is important. Plants have minimal side branching but stretch significantly during flowering, requiring careful height management in small spaces.
