Black Congolese is a 100% pure sativa strain that is a landrace native to the Congo regions of Africa. This local genetic line from the Congo comes from the outskirts of the capital of the Republic of the Congo, Brazzaville. The strain originates from the Congo region in Central Africa and is described as a sativa-dominant hybrid that is a cross between two landrace strains: the Congolese and Black Afghani. The result is a potent and robust strain with a unique genetic profile, combining the best of both African and Afghani genetics. However, this Congo Black line is reported as authentic, with no traces of hybrids observed, representing the cleanest and most adapted genetics to this region that have been found from African hands from Brazzaville, carefully preserved for decades.

Black Congolese is known for its striking appearance, with dark green leaves and deep purple-black buds covered in a thick layer of trichomes. The plant has large and medium serrated leaves of 7 and 9 bright light green leaflets, developing a compact structure in its stems to receive heavy, resin-filled flowers, with medium flower stigmas and swollen calyxes full of resin.
