Big Skunk Korean
Big Skunk Korean
Also known as: BSK
Overview
Big Skunk Korean is an indica-dominant hybrid cannabis strain that emerged from the western United States, possibly Oregon, with uncertain breeding origins. The strain is reportedly a three-way cross of Big Bud, Skunk #1, and Korean genetics, though its exact creation date and breeder remain unknown. Despite its mysterious lineage, the Korean component likely refers to landrace genetics that historically grew wild on the Korean peninsula for centuries, though no stable Korean landrace strains have been definitively established in Western cannabis cultivation.
The plant produces oversized, lumpy popcorn-shaped buds with a distinctive deep purple coloration and thick coating of trichomes and sticky resin. Buds are typically large and resinous like those of its Big Bud parent, with leaves that can contain purple pigment. Big Skunk Korean has proven valuable in crossbreeding programs, serving as a parent strain for popular varieties including Lavender and Kilimanjaro. The strain was notably used by breeder SOMA in numerous breeding projects, contributing to strains like Somativa, Kahuna, Lavender, and Somango.

Growing Information
Big Skunk Korean is one of the longest flowering indica-leaning strains, requiring 10-15 weeks to fully mature but yielding 10-12 ounces per square meter indoors. Outdoor flowering can take up to 15 weeks with harvest occurring in mid-to-late October in the Northern Hemisphere. The plant prefers sunny weather and is not particularly sturdy, making outdoor cultivation difficult in colder climates. Its compact structure makes it ideal for the Sea of Green method, maximizing small growing spaces. The plant produces huge buds with striking purple hue when exposed to colder temperatures during late flowering. Difficulty level is considered moderate to challenging due to its long flowering period and environmental requirements.
