Big Blue
Big Blue
Overview
Big Blue is an indica-dominant hybrid strain (65% indica/35% sativa) created through crossing the legendary Northern Lights #5 and Blueberry strains. Big Blue is a rare indica dominant hybrid strain (65% indica/35% sativa) created through crossing the iconic Northern Lights X Blueberry strains. Originally bred by British Columbia Seed Company, this strain was introduced to growers back in 1997 and has garnered nothing but praise from cultivators and consumers alike. The strain combines the best characteristics of both parent strains, inheriting the powerful resin production and calming properties of Northern Lights with the distinctive berry aroma and mood-enhancing qualities of Blueberry. Big Blue buds have lumpy oversized bright neon green nugs with deep blue undertones, vivid orange hairs, and a coating of chunky frosty bright white crystal trichomes. The strain is particularly valued for its robust nature and adaptability to various growing conditions, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced cultivators. Its genetic heritage creates a plant that is both visually stunning and therapeutically valuable, representing a classic example of expert cannabis breeding from the late 1990s era.

Growing Information
Big Blue can be cultivated indoors where the plants will need a flowering time of ±48 days (approximately 7 weeks). Big Blue seeds produce small plants, seldom taller than one metre. The plants are quite bushy with mid green foliage and dense buds of medium size with a purplish hue. The strain is considered relatively easy to grow and responds well to SOG (Sea of Green) growing methods. In a SOG set-up, you should harvest about 350 grams per square metre while plants grown individually will yield from 70 to 85 grams each. Perfect for growing weed indoors and outdoors, these medical cannabis seeds flower within 47 to 55 days and are capable of producing yields of up to 350g/m2. The strain is particularly hardy and suitable for cooler climates, making it an excellent choice for outdoor cultivation in northern regions. Plants tend to stay compact and stocky, making them ideal for small growing spaces.
