Biddy Early
Biddy Early
Overview
Biddy Early is a balanced 50/50 hybrid cannabis strain developed by Magus Genetics through crossing Early Skunk with Warlock. Named after a legendary 19th-century Irish healer and wise woman from County Clare who was accused of witchcraft, the strain draws a symbolic connection between historical persecution and modern cannabis prohibition. Magus Genetics, whose name derives from the Latin for 'priest' or 'sorcerer,' created this strain specifically for outdoor cultivation in harsh northern European climates, particularly the Netherlands' humid and cold conditions. The strain was later acquired by Serious Seeds who continue to produce it today. Biddy Early has gained considerable recognition in the cannabis community, winning multiple awards including second place in the High Times Cannabis Cup Sativa category in 2003 and various outdoor category placements at the HighLife Hemp Fair. The plant exhibits strong lateral growth typical of sativas despite its balanced genetics, reaching heights of 1.8-2 meters outdoors. It features olive green buds with orange hairs, purple undertones in cold weather, and a generous coating of crystalline trichomes.

Growing Information
Biddy Early is specifically designed for outdoor cultivation in challenging northern climates with high humidity and cold weather. It excels outdoors where it can reach 2-2.5 meters in height, but can also be grown indoors with some difficulty. The strain has a relatively fast flowering time of 7-9 weeks (50-60 days) and is ready for harvest in late September to early October outdoors. It shows excellent mold resistance and is considered beginner-friendly. The plant displays elastic, pliable branches that are easily trained and 'storm-proof' for harsh weather. However, it can be problematic for maintaining mother plants indoors due to its low flowering trigger - it may flower prematurely under stress from insufficient light, nutrients, or root space. Indoor yields are typically 300-400g/m² while outdoor yields are moderate. The plant develops beautiful red and purple coloration when exposed to cooler temperatures.
