Avalon
Avalon
Overview
Avalon is an indica-dominant hybrid cannabis strain composed of 75% indica and 25% sativa genetics, created by Next Generation Seed Company. The strain originated from DJ Short Blueberry and Afghani strains. Avalon was one of the first cannabis breeding projects started in 1996/97, with founding genetics from a male selected from a west-coast Afghani x Hashplant crossed with a DJ Short Blueberry female selection. For the following 10 years this variety was selectively bred on the humid west coast of Vancouver Island outdoors, with breeders always selecting the most resinous, high yielding and mold resistant phenotypes. In the early 2000's it became very popular all across northern climates because of its fast flowering, mold resistance, large yields, and abundant resin production. The strain was discontinued in 2009 when Next Generation relocated to Europe and didn't have the same climate conditions, though they kept the genetics in their private collection. Visually, Avalon is striking with large, dense buds that manifest an almost sculpted appearance, exhibiting deep shades of green with hints of purple accents, particularly at the lower branches, reflecting the influence of its indica lineage.

Growing Information
Flowering time is 50 days indoors and harvest outdoors around September 25th. Clones grow about 3-4 feet maximum indoors, and between 4-5 feet outdoors with very strong willow-like stalks, huge buds and large yields. Classic Avalon grows very branchy with a bushy structure, is very hardy outdoors with strong/thick branches, and has good mold resistance. This strain is not recommended for beginning cultivators as it requires a grower who knows what they are doing, and even though relatively resistant to ailments, it still requires significant attention. The strain produces medium yields in ideal conditions and is bred for growing both indoors and outdoors. Avalon is considered very easy to grow and can be adapted to many different grow rooms.
