Auto Northern Light is an autoflowering hybrid cannabis strain that combines the legendary genetics of Northern Lights with ruderalis to create a fast-growing, easy-to-cultivate variety. The strain is a cross between Northern Light and a ruderalis variety, with Northern Light itself being a combination of several landrace strains from Afghanistan and Thailand. This indica cultivar derives from Afghan genetics and was originally bred in the US in the 1970s, with the first Northern Lights cannabis plants supposedly grown by a mysterious breeder known only as 'The Indian' on an island near Seattle, Washington. In the 1980s, the plant made its way to Holland, where it became a cornerstone of modern cannabis breeding. The autoflowering trait is introduced through ruderalis genetics, which allows the plant to flower based on age rather than light cycles, making cultivation significantly easier for beginners. This strain retains the indica dominance of its parent strain while being classified as an autoflowering hybrid, maintaining the powerful relaxing effects and resinous bud production that made Northern Lights famous. The strain produces compact, resin-coated buds with vibrant green colors that are covered with trichomes, and the plants tend to be medium-sized with a sturdy structure, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor cultivation.
