Astroboy is a sativa-dominant hybrid (70% sativa/30% indica) cannabis strain created by TGA Subcool Seeds through crossing Apollo 13 with an experimental strain called "Taco" (Ortega × Cinderella 99). This strain was actually an unplanned creation, resulting from an accidental pollination of female Apollo-13 plants in the breeder's garden. Named after the classic Japanese manga character, Astroboy has gained recognition for its unique genetics combining Ortega's reliable Northern Lights indica heritage with the agile sativa characteristics of Apollo 13 and Cinderella 99. The strain produces lumpy, dense medium-sized light minty green nugs with sparse furry orange hairs and a thick frosty coating of milky amber-hued crystal trichomes. The watermelon phenotype of Astroboy is particularly well-regarded as an exceptional expression of the strain and is often used as influence for other breeding projects.

Seeds are not available for sale online; growers must obtain clippings from mature plants to foster genetically identical clones. The strain can be grown indoors or outdoors, though outdoor cultivation requires a semi-humid climate with daytime temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Premium batches target total terpene retention above 1.5% and THCa in the 20-26% range for connoisseur-grade lots, with properly grown samples exhibiting bright terpene profiles and clean white-to-light-gray ash.
