Anesthesia
Anesthesia
Overview
Anesthesia is a powerful indica-dominant hybrid strain (approximately 90% indica, 10% sativa) created in 2007 by breeder Whazzup to preserve the genetics of the legendary Afghan Skunk strain. The strain was developed by crossing Afghan Skunk with Herojuana, with the breeder specifically aiming to keep the Afghani Skunk genetics going as it had long been only available as a cutting from another plant. Anesthesia was selected as a "Breeder's Choice" Selection by Dutch seed company Sannie's Seeds, which has helped to spread its popularity and availability. The strain won recognition for its exceptional breeding and has become a celebrated medicinal variety. The plants produce bright green flowers with numerous nearly red strands, featuring dense buds covered in crystals and a thick carpet of trichomes on both leaves and buds. The strain exhibits a pungent earthy smell and taste with notes of musk, skunk, and coffee tones that appeal to fans of deep hashy flavors. As its name suggests, Anesthesia is specifically bred for its narcotic, body stone effects that create a state where awareness of pain or discomfort is reduced while providing deep physical mellowing that works through one's limbs like a warm blanket while allowing the mind to stay engaged.

Growing Information
Anesthesia grows as a low, branchy plant with broad indica leaves that branches extensively and grows wider and closer to the ground rather than tall. Plants typically reach 3.5-4 feet (1 meter) in height when flowering at 8-10 weeks. Indoor flowering time is 8-10 weeks (approximately 55-63 days), with indoor yields up to 500 grams per square meter. Outdoor yields can reach 500-1000 grams per plant, with harvests typically ready in mid-September to early November. The strain prefers calcium-rich substrate and is suitable for various growing techniques including Sea of Green (maximum 9 plants per square meter) and Screen of Green methods due to its branching structure. Best grown indoors with its indica-dominant lineage explaining its low, branchy growth pattern. Plants show gender relatively late, double in size during flowering, and require attention to humidity control during final flowering weeks due to dense bud structure. Recommended for intermediate to experienced growers due to its medicinal potency.
