Overview
Amstel Gold, also known as Passion #1, is an indica-dominant cannabis strain developed in California during the 1970s that has been cultivated in the Netherlands since 1980. The strain was originally bred by Dutch Passion but was asked by Amstel Breweries to discontinue using the "Amstel Gold" name, leading to its renaming as Passion #1. This Californian indica is the result of years of selective breeding and crossing, producing long compact buds that are full of resin and very potent.
Amstel Gold was specifically developed for outdoor or greenhouse cultivation and is not suitable for indoor growing. The plant exhibits hybrid characteristics with the growth pattern of a sativa and flowering time of an indica, eventually becoming a very tall, slender plant with thin leaves. When planted in greenhouse beds or large pots, she produces impressive yields of 250-750g per plant under optimal outdoor conditions. The strain is easy to grow, producing long compact resinous buds, making it one of the best green outdoor varieties in cultivation.

Amstel Gold/Passion #1 has been exclusively developed for outdoor or greenhouse cultivation and is not suitable for indoor growing under strong lights. The flowering period is approximately 6 weeks with harvest time occurring at the end of September to the first week of October. It is a very tough and resistant strain, with thin leaves and open structure that makes it less susceptible to fungus and bud rot. The long buds can easily reach 40-50cm and may require support during the end of flowering due to their weight. This pest and mold resistant strain is tough and provides high yields in all types of climates. With enough soil and sunlight, this becomes a plant of epic proportions.
