Akorn
Akorn
Also known as: Snowbud, Acorn, Accorn Snowbud, Snow Bud
Overview
Akorn (also known as Snowbud) is a cannabis strain developed by TH Seeds, originally brought from the Northwestern United States in 1995. The strain gained its name from growers who noted its hard finished structure with tight colas resembling 'baby arms,' while smokers dubbed it Snowbud due to its exceptional resin production and frosty appearance. Different sources describe it variably as an indica-dominant hybrid or evenly balanced hybrid (50% indica/50% sativa), though most agree on its predominantly indica characteristics. The strain exhibits typical indica morphology with short internodal spacing, a strong central cola, and wide dark green leaves, making it well-suited for indoor cultivation, particularly SCROG methods. Akorn produces dense, resinous buds with a notably potent aroma that requires proper ventilation and storage to contain its strong scent.

Growing Information
Akorn is considered an easy-to-grow strain suitable for indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse cultivation. The plant reaches heights of 120-150cm and has a flowering time of 55-60 days (approximately 8-8.5 weeks). Expected yields range from 400-500 grams per square meter indoors. The strain develops a strong central cola with tight, dense buds and produces an extremely potent smell during cultivation, requiring anti-odor filtration systems. Its indica-dominant structure with short internodes makes it particularly well-suited for SCROG (Screen of Green) growing methods.
