Afghan Hawaiian
Afghan Hawaiian
Also known as: Hawaiian Afghan
Overview
Afghan Hawaiian is an indica-dominant hybrid (70% indica/30% sativa) created through the cross of UK Cheese and Lavender strains, originally bred by Canadian licensed producer OrganiGram, Inc. This strain has also been produced by Expert Seeds and other breeders. The strain was specifically developed for medical applications, particularly for neurological disorders and spasticity. Afghan Hawaiian produces dense, popcorn-shaped buds that are neon green with light gold undertones, translucent amber hairs, and a generous coating of chunky white trichomes. The buds are notably resinous and sticky, making them excellent for concentrate production. Being descendants of the legendary Afghani landrace, both parent strains contribute fruity and floral fragrances alongside impressive calming effects. Afghan Hawaiian represents a harmonious fusion of robust Afghan genetics with more modern Western breeding, resulting in a strain that maintains traditional therapeutic benefits while offering enhanced complexity and refinement.

Growing Information
Afghan Hawaiian is considered best suited for experienced growers due to limited information on its growth patterns and potential sensitivity to environmental conditions. The strain requires stable temperatures reminiscent of tropical Hawaiian climate while providing adequate nutrition for its Afghan heritage. Indoor flowering time is 8-9 weeks with yields of 15-19 ounces per square meter (some sources report 10-12 oz/m²). Outdoor plants are ready for harvest in early to mid-October, yielding approximately 21 ounces per plant (12 oz/plant reported by some sources). Plants produce dense, resinous buds and benefit from pruning for better air circulation and light penetration. Regular monitoring for pests and diseases is recommended, particularly mold susceptibility from Hawaiian genetics. Well-drained, organic-rich soil is preferred, and controlled indoor environments may yield better results.
